Meet the team

Allow us to introduce you to Charli and Andy, the dynamic duo behind Harmony String Quartet (HSQ). Their musical journey began in 2008 at the Royal Northern College of Music, where their shared passion for music ignited a partnership that has flourished ever since.

Charli, the driving force behind HSQ, not only manages the quartet but also lends her talent as a skilled violist. With a keen attention to detail and a passion for excellence, she is your go-to person for any inquiries or concerns regarding your booking.

Andy, the cello maestro of the quartet, brings his expertise not only in performance but also as our on-site music arranger. Known for his Yorkshire Tea addiction and love for musical challenges, Andy delights in customising musical arrangements to suit your preferences. If you don't find your favourite song on our repertoire list, fear not—Andy will work his magic to bring it to life for your special day.

Beyond their musical endeavours, Charli and Andy enjoy escaping to the Lake District with their beloved black Labrador and juggling the joys of family and work life.

Questions

  • The Quartet has 4 musicians playing in the ensemble (violin, violin, viola and cello) whereas the Trio has 3 musicians (violin, viola and cello).

    The String Quartet repertoire is significantly larger than the Trio so please take this in to consideration when making your booking.

  • The Harmony String Quartet are based in Manchester and we have performed in venues all across the country including Sheffield, Liverpool, Leeds and Yorkshire (to name but a few). We are able to travel to perform at your event!

  • We tend to dress to suit the occasion, ladies in long black and gents in black suits. However we can offer the option to make it more formal with the ladies in colourful dresses and the gents in suits (like wedding guests). Your decision!

  • ​Yes! You can have a listen to us on our YouTube page or ask Charli to send you some samples of the String Quartet, Trio and Duo playing directly.

  • The musicians will require an armless chair each (quartet = 4 armless chairs etc.) They require a performance space of 3m x 2m. We will never say no to a coffee or a tea either.

    On bookings over 4 hours we request that food be provided for the musicians.

  • We can arrange this for you at an additional cost of £55.

    ​Our arranger (and cellist) Andy is on hand to help and guide you through any requirements you may have.

  • We are very happy to play outside as long as we are able to perform in a sheltered area.

    ​You can discuss with Charli on where would be best for the musicians to sit.

  • The Trio team were amazing and so adaptable, we had three venue changes and had to change their playing time from pre ceremony, ceremony and drinks to just pre Ceremony and ceremony. Each time it was no trouble and they were very understanding. Communication via telephone and email with Charli was fabulous and always so warm and friendly. On the day, they came and set up so professionally. The acoustics of from the strings were beautiful. The music blew me away as I walked down the aisle. Something that will never leave me! Even when the registrars took a little longer than planned checking over the paperwork, the trio decided to fill the silence with another song. It was amazing! They packed away quickly and quietly for photographs. All of our guests commented on how beautiful the music was. Thank you a million times over for making our Covid wedding so beautiful.
